I downloaded multiple versions of Bells Cathedrals for a review of cathedrals I visited on a trip to England. The textual content is outstanding and provides fascinating in-depth description of the historical background and circumstances of the founding and construction of the church. It also provides a vivid description of all aspects of its architecture. I regret that I did not have the opportunity to read these booklets before my trip to England.The only disappointment is that these free versions do not include illustrations which are exceptionally important in the study of any cathedral church. For that reason and that reason only, I reduced my rating from five stars to three. Still, even without the illustrations, Bells Cathedrals are a "must read" if one plans a visit to any of the cathedrals covered by Bell. And, there are paid versions which include the illustrations. As a review after the fact of my visits, the free versions are very adequate especially since I have my own photos to accompany Bell's text.
However, should I again plan another catheral tour in England I would, without hesitation, order the illustrated paid version to accompany me on my trip. (This is a dulicate review of another iterations of Bells Cathedrals)
